University College Cork (UCC) Course evaluation with EvaSys Education
December 14, 2011
University College Cork (UCC) has a commitment to ensuring a student-centred approach to teaching is embedded throughout its culture. The university had therefore been looking for a way to analyse student evaluations for its 3,500 modules to ensure the most effective monitoring of teaching standards.
In Summer 2010 UCC purchased the EvaSys evaluation system from Electric Paper, which allows the flexibility to evaluate modules using both online and paper based surveys automatically.
Norma Ryan - Director of Quality Promotion at UCC - explained: " We have faced significant internal challenges in creating a standardised set of questions for evaluation across our schools, but the EvaSys is part of an initiative to meet these challenges and has been rolled out live starting in November 2011.
"We had previously tried another electronic system but it did not have the detailed reporting facility that we felt we required. A huge plus about the EvaSys System is that it enables us to scan paper forms and then scan the data and get results back to the teachers in a easily understandable format, and produce aggregated reports to provide a more complete picture across the institution. We feel there is a huge amount of potential in the system to help us with essential quality enhancement."
"We want students and teachers to enjoy their teaching and learning experience, and ensuring that feedback is obtained and actioned will be a key part of that."
