EvaSys Healthcare: Systemised surveys with minimal effort to assure quality management

The Municipal Hospital in Braunschweig is the largest hospital in Lower Saxony, Germany with 1,478 beds and more than 30 clinics and institutions. Around 3,500 employees from various professions work in the individual clinics, departments and institutions caring for approximately 53,000 patients per year, trying to make their hospital stay as pleasant as possible. Specialists work together closely in departments such as cardiovascular, metabolic disorders and cancer.

The Municipal Hospital of Braunschweig‘s management is convinced that comprehensive quality management offers many benefits. Before the introduction of EvaSys Healthcare by Electric Paper in 2005, surveys were performed selectively through external service providers. The high costs involved in outsourcing and the great effort in upgrading the collection system at the hospital soon led to the request that the surveys be performed independently, internally and flexibly.

While looking for a reliable software solution for patient surveys, they came upon EvaSys Healthcare. The software allows the departments to conduct surveys on a larger scale, both in terms of the number of projects as well as the number of survey participants.

The questionnaires are easy to create. The questions can be formulated at liberty and the user is supplied with a question library. In addition to single and multiple choice questions, open and scaled questions can also be generated with the web designer. So, the surveys can easily be adapted to individual requirements and specific projects.

The completed forms are put through a high performance scanner, so even with large amounts of data, time and personnel expenditure are very low. “The data collection is done quickly and reliably“ says the delighted Mr Cappelle, Director of Coordination & Services.

The statistical processing of the collected data is also done automatically. The data and graphs obtained provide the hospital with meaningful overviews and can be expanded using SPSS, Excel or Sphinx.

EvaSys Healthcare is versatile and can be used in various areas of hospital management, as desired by the Municipal Hospital in Braunschweig . At present, approximately 50,000 patient surveys are completed in the inpatient area per year. Satisfaction surveys are also conducted for ambulatory patients.
